Welcome to The Double R Club, an evening of mystery & nightmares inspired by the films of DAVID LYNCH ; a darkly surreal cocktail of "Damn fine" Cabaret & Comedy & Live Music, where

"Restless nights and uneasy dreams go with the territory..."

*THE* UNDERGROUND CULT CABARET PHENOMENON

A dark and troubling cabaret dream from another place, it takes inspiration directly or indirectly from David Lynch's air of mystery and nightmare, all served with humour "Black, like midnight on a moonless night…"

Think the finger-clicking jazz ambience of cult TV show Twin Peaks,

the absurdist monochrome machine world of Eraserhead...

From the dark underbelly of Mulholland Drive,

to the surreal small-town madness of Blue Velvet,

this is an evening of 'damn fine' Lynchian cabaret of mystery and nightmares from the deepest river of your dreams…

Your aberrant host BENJAMIN LOUCHE introduces:

AYESHA HUSSAIN

razor-sharp mistress of the west moseys on into your minds to impale and impress!

TOM HARLOW

Creates a compendium of maniacal matriarchal meltdowns behind closed doors!

ALOHA DEAD

masters of otherworldly twang and thrum play your nerves like tuning forks!

MADAME MAGENTA

a woman and seer who can see through the darkness of futures past!
SNAKE FERVOR

Miss Twin Peaks 2017 returns triumphant to her strange dreams of a darkened room...

MOLLY BETH MOROSSA

imaginary girl tells a tale of the mysteries of love and of the shadow that love leads to...

LAURENCE OWEN

troubled troubadour channels the unreal and ethereal musics of the spheres!

MARNIE SCARLET

woman in red appears as a living sour-faced cipher, a codified dancing girl!

We walk, in dreams, with you…

"London can't claim too many shows with the impressive longevity and sheer depravity of the RR Club" -The Londonist

"One of the edgiest nights in the capital." -The Independent

"You may be tickled in your most shameful fancies. You may be deeply offended. But you won't look away. Mad, bad and

“Once upon a time, in the depths of East London, there was a red brick house known as the Workers’ Club... The story goes that the week before All Hallows’ Day, the building underwent a vicious queer spell. Horrifying monsters, creatures ascending from the dark and burnt witches were raised from their ashes. A dead forest started to grow through cracks in the walls, Voodoo rituals, profane ceremonials and wicked sorcery were performed until the sun sent them all back to the underworld.…”

THE RHYTHM METHOD RELEASE NEW SINGLE 'SOMETHING FOR THE WEEKEND' (MOSHI MOSHI)

"…the London duo who are managing to accomplish the hitherto impossible seeming task of making indie music that feels brand new." –The Guardian

"… channel infectious pop, shining 80s synths and brass trumpets set beneath choruses with playful yet sincere lyrics" - Mixmag

"Put simply, when a man is tired of The Rhythm Method, he is tired of life" – i-D

"The Rhythm Method continue to be charismatic and confusing (and amazing)" –Popjustice

The Rhythm Method return with bank holiday anthem 'Something For The Weekend', their first release on Moshi Moshi. An eloquent and instantly addictive ode to love, summer and a good haircut, teeming with pay-day reverie and date-night stupor, it fast tracks the group to the front row of classic modern pop. Just one play on the songs' effortless blend of sun-drunk riffs, feel-good rhythm and amorously infectious vocals is enough to put it on the Saturday night speed dial.

'Something For The Weekend' joins an already formidable canon of irreverently incisive, endlessly inventive songs including 'Party Politics', 'Local, Girl', 'Home Sweet Home' and 'Cruel', which have earned the duo of vocalist and lyricist Joey Bradbury and songwriter Rowan Martin fans ranging from Matty Healy from The 1975 to actress and playwright Michaela Coel, Suggs, The Street's Mike Skinner and Denise Welch.

-------------------------------

Andy and Edwin Mathis White are the duo known as Tonstartssbandht. Behind the made up name (pronounced as tahn-starts-bandit) is a lifetime of synergistic sibling energy and a decade of making and releasing music together.
Tonstartssbandht began in August of 2007 in their hometown of Orlando, Florida. After spending their teenage years exploring the languid landscape of improvised ensemble noise rock, they focused their efforts on recording a few cover versions of songs from the Beach Boys’ Smiley Smile / Wild Honey. As choir members in their youth, the two felt no apprehension at the vocal task at hand and set their expectations to “neutral” when eventually writing their own music. Soon after, Andy and Edwin moved to their new respective homes in Montreal and New York City. Since then, the pair have released three self-released 2009 albums, An When, Dick Nights, and Maihama, Midnite Cobras 7” in March 2010 and a year later, via Arbutus Records, their first full-length 12” Now I Am Become, a platter of music splattering between dooming rock and choral harmony.

In the years that followed, work and touring began to supersede that time once used for prolific recording. After bringing the split psyche sets on the road, the focus eventually shifted toward a streamlined live instrumentation involving their voices and analog ware. Their entire spring 2013 European tour was meticulously recorded each night by Andy. By then he had joined his brother at Le Wallet in Brooklyn and where that winter they mixed and spliced together an 80 minute selection from more than 25 hours of the European recordings. Entitled Overseas, and jointly released in June 2014 by Company Etc. & Arbutus Records, the double live album was the perfect document of where their creative development turned.

As Tonstartssbandht continued touring, the recording never stopped. Full set live cassettes followed with Nantes, Hanoi, and Christchurch. After moving back to Orlando in early 2016, their new home studio album Sorcerer was finally completed and released in March this year.

13 Percent Presents – Launch 2nd November Bethnal Green Working Men's Club. JOIN US !!!!

This powerful event is a celebration for all of those who dream of a

greater balance, equal opportunities and a better future for performers and music lovers alike!!

This will be the first of their regular events which will be open to everyone who wishes to raise awareness of matters concerning gender equality within the creative industries and ask how we can, as a creative community, challenge this for a future of change!!

About 13 Percent Presents
With a desire to promote equality, 13 Percent Presents provides a platform for artists to share their opinions on this matter, openly discussing a positive ways for change. With a title appropriately taken from the statistic that women make up only 13% of a total number of writers, composers and music publishers according to PRS for Music. 13 Percent Presents seeks to start a conversation to encourage more artist to enter the music industry with confidence, showcase reachable role models who will inspire and guide young artists at the start of their journey. We hope to send a positive message that woman and man can co-exist creatively without a concern for such gender disparity.

13 Percent Presents brings together five stunningly crafted acts to celebrate their launch...

HERO FISHER
London-born/Paris-raised a songwriter and performer with a singular vision encompassing every aspect of her music and identity. The preternaturally-talented Fisher’s music is set in a world of earthy melodies and hauntingly poetic lyrics. After dropping out of art-school in her late teens, Fisher holed up in her bedroom and recorded her first experiments in music on a four-track recorder, fuelled by a love of Bob Dylan, Jeff Buckley and Leonard Cohen. Held back by a sense that sharing her songs with the world was "irrelevant and indulgent", the fiercely self-protective Fisher bounced between France, Australia and the UK for most of her young life.

KELEIGH WOLF
American poet, performer, activist and journalist, Keleigh Wolf, seeks to break down stereotyping and celebrate her womanhood through her poetic spoken word. Wolf is a member of the immersive troupe, London Poetry Brothel, and regularly performs alongside Liar’s League. She is a founding member of The Little Versed Poetry Collective and is currently poet in residence at Kabaret at Karamel, where she curates monthly events featuring London’s strongest and strangest performers of all ilk.

PILLARS
Soulful 23-year-old artist making her mark in the world of electronic music. Shedding her past as an acoustic singer-songwriter, she developed her first home studio set up. “Suddenly I realised there was this whole other world of electronic music that I could dig my teeth into. Coming from an acoustic background, having had no influence from the electronic world, I dove into the world of production blind. What was really exciting was that I came out sounding like…me.”

VELVETEEN
A gospel-trained background and is blessed with a stunning voice which she has utilized to develop herself as a loop artist. Velveteen can often be found singing into some sort of machine in her bedroom in an attempt to take her listeners on a journey back to a golden era of gospel music. Velveteen will be performing new material plus a specially arranged cover of Paulo Nutini’s Iron Skies accompanied by a brass ensemble.

On November 10th ROCKFEEDBACK are throwing a UK GARAGE PARTY to raise money and awareness for looked after children. Come have a bump 'n' grind with us, all for a very good cause.

Looked after children are massively over-represented in the criminal justice system, twice as likely not to be in education, employment or training, and four-times more likely to suffer from mental ill health. It’s a long term, systemic social issue which has a huge impact but rarely gets much attention unless it results in a tragedy. 100% of the money from the party will go to Become, a charity working with looked after children, and campaigning to reform the care system.

Join us as we rewind to ’01, where the music policy is UK garage, and the dress code is UK garage. We’ll be joined on the 1s and 2s by Transgressive Sound System, Hard Cock Life DJs, and a couple of special guests to be announced in October.

All money will be going to charity.

-------------------------------

BUTTMITZVAH is no ordinary clubnight.

It's a queer Jewish extravaganza and

the ultimate cumming of age party,

Combining comedy, clubbing, drag and lokshen pudding for a joyfully queer take on the ancient Jewish ritual, there's nothing quite like Buttmitzvah.

On Sat Nov 11th we're going all out with three floors of madness. We've got everyone's favourite family The Rimmers on the verge of a nervous breakdown (you don't want to miss this); performances from fantastic drag king boyband BOYZ; mass Jewish dancing with 500 people; and introducing for the first time, The Clitovitzes.

Plus we're throwing a great big celebration for the women who gave us life, who raised us, clothed us, fed us, shlepped us, kept feeding us...and then fed us some more. The women who now we're fully grown adults still won't stop fussing over us. MOTHERS! And we want YOU to bring YOURS to Buttmitzvah.

Not only do Mums 'love a boogie', but they never get out the house (too busy shlepping) and they never go anywhere half as fun as Buttmitzvah (too busy feeding). So let's give our mothers a night they won't forget. It's time to Take Your Mama Out.

We've also got live performances from FIDDLER ON THE POOF; delicious kosher-ish catering; comedian Candy Gigi; the Buttmitzvah Dance Crew; a special Mizrahi DJ set from Baby Morocco & Tamir Pettet, and so much more.

DRESSCODE:

Black Tie. Oy Gay, this is Buttmitzvah for G-d's sake, not Wednesday morning at Brent Cross...

EVERYONE IS WELCOME! Jews & Gentiles, Chosen Ones & Unchosen Ones. This is a nudnik-free celebration for anyone who's been to a Bar or Bat Mitzvah, or anyone who's never been but always wondered what they're like.
